Success of new Lewes business networking event, First Friday Lewes
15-11-07
A free marketing service for local small business owners has attracted over 120 members in its first six months.
First Friday Lewes is an informal get together once a month at a town centre pub, when members meet, chat and do business.
Started in May 2007 by Lewes resident and business owner Robin Houghton, the idea of First Friday Lewes is to give small and micro business owners the chance to make new contacts and promote their services. There are no fees and people attend on a ‘drop-in’ basis.
“Business networking is something we can all benefit from, but it can be quite a commitment when you’re trying to run a business and often doing everything yourself,” explained Robin. “I think the informality of First Friday and the fact that it’s free are two good reasons why it has been so successful. We’ve needed this in Lewes for some time!”
