Businesses keen to learn about social media
The rise of social media and networking continues to fascinate small businesses looking to harness it as a marketing tool. Robin Houghton of Eggbox Marketing has seen an increase in the demand for information and consequently has a number of events coming up at which she is speaking on the subject.
“In the last few weeks, I’ve been approached to speak to Hove Business Association, the West Sussex branch of the FSB and two business breakfast events,” said Robin. “It’s also exciting to have been asked to make a presentation to the senior management of a regional organisation, to persuade them of the need to understand social media and the best way to approach it. I think many firms are seeing the need to look at it strategically, rather than as a set of tools that they need to be using. Which is absolutely the right approach. Social media needs to be part of a bigger picture, integrated with the marketing and business planning, rather than a hasty add-on.”
Small businesses are being asked to take part in a short survey to identify where they feel they need help with social media, as Robin plans some follow-up events to last year’s social media marketing workshops in Lewes.
