First Friday Lewes proves networking is as crucial as ever to small businesses

Over 45 people attended the March 5th meeting of First Friday Lewes, the free lunchtime business networking event organised by Eggbox Marketing, showing that for the small business, informal networking is as crucial as ever during the recession.

Organiser Robin Houghton said, “I think this demonstrates just how important face-to-face networking is, particularly during an economic downturn. Recently I’ve even had one or two people on the phone to me who’ve been referred by the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, their business is going through hard times and they just need to be thrown a lifeline.”

For regular networkers, the benefits are obvious: build relationships through regular contact, make sure it’s as much social as business, and you grow your network of trusted contacts very easily.
